Robert Guida
Hello,
My name is Mr. Robert Guida and I am the owner and head instructor of MSD Kenpo Karate. First of all, I want you to know I have a teacher that is local to the region and if you become a student you will meet him. This may seem like a strange thing to say first but it is important! The martial arts community has a lot of people who are self-taught or had a teacher 20 years ago, but that is not me. I teach Parker's 24 Technique Kenpo system and I am the only school in WNY that does that so you will not find what I teach, anywhere else.
Secondly, I want to talk about my life outside of the Martial Arts. I am a family man with a wonderful wife, two great kids, 2 dogs and a bunny. When I am not working, you can find me at home with my family cooking dinner for them, gardening with my wife or in the pool with my kids -- they are my life.
Lastly, I want you to know I am an Army Officer with 22 years in the Army. I did 8 years of active duty with the 173rd Airborne and the 82nd Airborne and I passed some of the Army’s toughest schools -- Airborne, Jumpmaster and Ranger School. I was deployed twice, once with Special Forces in Bosnia and once to Iraq where I commanded a company and I proudly brought everyone home. After active duty I spent some time in 20th Special Forces Group early on but since then I have been in training units the last 10 years training young officers and soldiers. I still serve today as it is important to me to give back to my community and my country.
You might have expected me to talk about my martial arts experience but that’s not what is important! What is important is that my school develops students into better people, because I have 22 years of military experience teaching young men and women to be better, to work harder, to serve their communities and to be successful in life. I already did it; I have had a successful Army Career, I earned my College Degree, my Master’s Degree and I have owned multiple companies over the years but it all started when I was 17 years old with Martial Arts and a Black Belt. Now I train others to do it and it all starts with a Black Belt.
